Absence and Attendance
Attendance
Cury School is committed to providing a full and efficient educational experience for all pupils. In order to achieve this, good school attendance is essential. Staff do all they can to ensure maximum attendance for all pupils. Any problems that impede full attendance are identified and addressed as a priority.
Parents have a legal responsibility to ensure that their child attends school regularly and on time. Schools are required to keep attendance registers and each child's attendance is regularly monitored.
If there are concerns about your child's lateness or attendance, the class teacher or administrative team will contact you. Please be open about the challenges you are facing, in order for the school to try their best to support you and your child to improve their attendance.
Punctuality and Lateness
All children must be in school by 9.10 am. It is essential that your child is in school on time to start the day with the rest of the children from their class. Parents/carers of children who are persistently late will be contacted by the school.
New Government Attendance Changes Effective from September 2024
The UK Government has revised its attendance policies to enhance educational outcomes, reduce rates of absenteeism and improve punctuality. These changes are designed to ensure that all children can benefit fully from their education.
- Schools are required to monitor attendance closely and report absences to the local authority frequently.
- There will be stricter penalties for unauthorised absences. Parents may face fines or other legal actions if their child has a significant number of unauthorised absences.
We understand that every family's situation is unique, and we are here to support you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
