Dear Parents and Carers

We have recently received a letter from Cury Parish Council informing us that they had attended the local park that borders our school, in order to undertake a litter picking exercise.  The feedback was extremely complimentary as there was very little litter present because our students are proactive in both picking up after themselves, but also in picking up other peoples litter!  We really do have some responsible pupils who are both a credit to yourself and the school.

I hope you all have a lovely half term and we look forward to welcoming the students back on Monday 2nd June for the final part of the summer term.

Head of Provision

Student Ambassadors

We are very excited to announce our first Student Ambassadors, Corbin and Harrison! These pupils have been recognised by staff and their peers as fantastic role models who demonstrate our values: kindness, respect, and resilience. They should be so proud of this achievement, as are the members of staff at Cury.

Now that the warmer weather is here, and the sun has come out we need

to make sure that our children are protected from the more harmful effects

of the sun.

If you are able to provide suncream, please could you put this in your child’s bag. This can be returned on a daily basis or kept at school in your child’s locker.

We also ask that parents and carers apply suncream to their children before the start of the school day and send your child in with a named sun hat to protect their head.

We will be sending home a suncream application consent form for you to complete and return.

Our classes

Poldhu

Poldhu Class have been learning about plants this half term. They have planted their own seeds and learned how to look after them by ensuring they water them every day. They have worked collaboratively to explore the parts of a plant and what each of them do. The children have also enjoyed Lego Therapy, learning how to use their speaking and listening skills to build mini Lego creations. They have also been learning to use regulation tools including den building and yoga! They have been learning about castles and the children made some amazing castles with working drawbridges! The children have been exploring outdoor learning while continuing to enjoy their Moving to Learn sessions, gymnastics, kayaking and swimming. I am so proud of the kindness and teamwork skills that I have seen all of the children show this half term!

Gunwalloe

We have recently welcomed some new pupils in Gunwalloe class, and it has been lovely getting to know new friends. We have focused on our value of RESPECT the last few weeks. We have learnt that respect can be shown in lots of different ways, and we are all trying hard to show RESPECT to our friends, the adults and the environment every day. We made a great den area outside and have spent some time using the space to reflect on how we can be respectful in lots of ways. In Maths we have really improved our counting in 2’s 5’s and 10’s and have started to count groups of different coins using this knowledge. We set up a pretend class cake shop after baking some treats and invited friends to come a buy a cake from our stand. In History we have continued to learn about the ancient Maya civilisation and have had fun making Maya masks and in Science we have learnt all about the reproductive parts of a flower where we had fun taking a flower head apart and identifying each part . In English we have finished our story of Georges Marvellous medicine and have created our own medicine number 5 that had lots of weird ingredients! We even described them using alliteration which made our descriptions sound really great.

Polurrian

Polurrian class have enjoyed an amazing three weeks! The recent change in weather has made the lake a real hit, allowing students to participate in more exciting activities like swimming and kayaking. Back in the classroom, their science lessons, where they've been looking at plant life and enthusiastically growing their own watercress, have been equally engaging. We hope all the students have some much-deserved rest during the half-term break and look forward to seeing them refreshed and ready for more learning afterward!
