Issue 05

I am delighted to share our recent Ofsted report with you. During our recent Ofsted inspection, which was a planned ungraded inspection, the school was found to be outstanding in all areas. This is a remarkable achievement, and it is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of both our staff and students. Although this was an ungraded inspection, the inspectors highlighted significant improvements across the school since our last graded inspection. The evidence they gathered pointed to substantial progress in all aspects of school life – from academic standards and teaching quality to personal development and leadership. The improvements observed were not only encouraging but truly demonstrate our ongoing commitment to providing the best possible education for our students.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our talented staff, who continue to go above and beyond to support our students, and to our students themselves, whose enthusiasm and hard work have played a vital role in making our school such a positive place to learn. I also appreciate the continued support of our parents and carers, without whom this achievement would not have been possible. We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved, but we are equally excited about continuing to build on this progress.

This achievement is testament to the hard work and dedication of the Nancealverne and Cury school teams.

Thank you for your continued support

Ruth Carpenter

World Book Day 6th March 2025

We celebrated World Book Day yesterday, with activities linked to well-loved stories and books. Both staff and children got involved by dressing up as their favourite book characters.

Our classes

Poldhu

Poldhu have had a very exciting two weeks back at school! They have enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day as well as spending time in the kitchen on Pancake day and making pasties on St Piran’s Day. The children loved swimming and practicing their front crawl! Our ‘moving to learn’ sensory sessions have been loved by the class as well as the new swing on our playground! In art, they have been learning about primary and secondary colours while imitating Jasper John’s artwork.

Gunwalloe

In Gunwalloe class we have had a busy few weeks with lots of fun things going on as always.

We had some fun in the kitchen this week making our delicious pancakes and then we also made some scrumptious pasties on St Piran’s Day. We also really enjoyed celebrating our favourite stories on World Book Day.

We have become much more confident with our recall of ‘Bonds to 10’ facts and even learned a ‘RAP’ to remember them!

The Polurrian class have had a truly action-packed week! It all kicked off on Shrove Tuesday with some flipping good fun as the students made and enjoyed their own delicious pancakes. Wednesday saw us celebrating Saint Piran's Day with delicious pasty making and other Cornish cultural activities. Then, on Thursday, the school was transformed into a literary wonderland for World Book Day, with fantastic costumes from staff and students alike! It's been a thrilling second week back, and we're all looking forward to more fun and learning this half term!

It was World Book Day this week, a perfect time to celebrate the joy of reading and explore how technology can support literacy. The way we engage with text has changed dramatically over the years. Whether reading captions on social media, instructions in a video game or an e-book on a digital device, technology plays a major role in modern literacy.

Below are ten top tips on how you could help young readers engage in text and foster a love for reading.
